Mr. Girish Kumar, former Director (Bangalore Complex) of Bharat Electronics Limited has more than 35 years of experience in the field of Defence Electronics.

During his tenure in BEL, he held several key leadership roles such as Executive Director (Ghaziabad Unit), General Manager (HR), General Manager (TQM), and General Manager (Export Manufacturing). During the period he steered multiple projects of National Importance such as Central Acquisition Radars, Akash Missile systems, Radar for High Altitude Applications, Coastal Surveillance Systems, Sonars for Ship, and Submarine applications, and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

He is a 1979 Mechanical Engineering Graduate and a Rank Holder from Jiwaji University, Gwalior. He completed the Executive Management Course from IIM Bangalore in 1993. He participated in the World TQM conference (JUSE), Tokyo in 2008. He attended Advanced Leadership courses at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Shanghai Administrative Institute, and Ecole Nationale D’ Administration, France in 2014. He is a Lead Assessor for ISO 9001, a Qualified Assessor for Business Excellence (EFQM Model), and CMQ/OE from ASQ.

He guided with distinction BEL on the way to Business Excellence. He contributed immensely in enabling Bangalore Complex to achieve the highest level of distinction as an Industry Role Model Unit in 2018. He has authored a book on ISO 9000 published in 1996. He has been profiled by Prof. TV Rao (IIM Ahmedabad) in his famous book (100 Indian Managers in Action).

He was on the Advisory board of CII Quality Institute, Bangalore. He also worked on the board of BEL joint ventures with Multi-nationals – GE and Thales. His areas of interest and expertise include:

  • TQM and Business Excellence models.
  • Leadership development and Organisational Culture.
  • Project Management.
  • Business Scenario and Competitive Analysis of Defence Electronics in India.
