Paul is the Chair of the World Café Community Foundation which serves as the steward of the World Café methodology and works to expand and enrich the use of conversations that matter throughout the world.

Paul is a founder of Leading by Association, a consultancy focused on nonprofit organizations where professionals and volunteer leaders work in mission-driven organizations to make the world a better place.  His areas of specialty include futuring, visioning, strategy, governance, and leadership development.

Paul is also a core team member of Vernal LLC, a Milwaukee Wisconsin based consulting firm specializing in leadership development.

Prior to founding Leading by Association, Paul served as the CEO of the American Society for Quality for 26 years (1988 -2014.)  During his tenure, ASQ grew from a small national organization to an organization of global scope and reach.  ASQ was recognized as a “best place to work” and received a Governors Excellence Award (Baldrige) in 2014.

Paul has served on a dozen boards and has received a Distinguished Service Medal from ASQ,  the Jackson Grayson Medal from APQC, a Magnolia Award from the Shanghai Association for Quality, the Georges Borel Medal from the European Organization for Quality, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives.   He is a Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives and an Honorary member of FUNDACE.
